About the event: Feeling physically and mentally rundown takes the pep from our step, leaving us with a sense of loss and wondering who we are. Rather than stay caught in that rut, we can act to recapture the magical wonder of being alive. Join us to discuss how we can reignite our passion and creativity, add a little oomph to overlooked parts of our lives, and find our new groove.

Araceli Amador, a multifaceted individual, embodies the essence of a social artist. She is an advocate, activist, and businesswoman and embraces the roles of a devoted mother, doting grandmother, and loving wife. Her passion for art knows no bounds, encompassing various forms and expressions. Engrossed in the world of creativity, she finds solace in reading, dancing, painting, and drawing, constantly exploring the depths of her artistic abilities.


Beyond her creative endeavors, Araceli finds immense joy in embracing nature, indulging in its beauty and tranquility. She discovers a profound connection with her inner self through meditation, fostering a sense of peace and harmony. Fueling her adventurous spirit, she embarks on journeys to explore new destinations, immersing herself in diverse cultures and experiences.

Janet Federico, Owl Medicine

Janet Federico is a trauma educator, licensed artist, award-winning author, and speaker from Washington, DC, now based in the Midwest. Her art has been on display at the Wichita Art Museum, the Wilson K. Cadman Art Gallery, City Arts, and InterUrban Art House, to name a few. An award-winning author, Janet has been featured in Elephant Journal, Writer’s Digest, and The Mighty.

In 2020, Janet launched Owl Medicine to provide greeting cards and art products for life’s “unspeakable” situations. An excellent educator, she teaches classes on Mindful Doodling and Writing Through Trauma. She is our co-teacher for the Finishing School for Modern Women class, Picking up the Pieces: Transitioning Trauma.


Janet is the former Executive Director of Thrive ICT, an organization devoted to providing long-term support to survivors of violence. In her continued advocacy efforts, Janet works to change the conversation around long-term survivorship and to educate others about the reality of living with trauma in the aftermath.

Janet holds a Master of Fine Arts in Fiction and a Master of Business Administration and is a Diamonds Graduate of the Gemological Institute of America.

Jill D. Miller, Finishing School for Modern Women Headmistress, Badass Women of Wichita Alliance Founder

Jill D. Miller is passionate about helping people grow – professionally and personally. Her consulting company, Creative Solutions, has helped fledgling and seasoned entrepreneurs launch and grow out-of-the-ordinary and sometimes quirky ventures since 1998. Jill found her gift for teaching as a corporate trainer and loves influencing young minds as an adjunct professor of Entrepreneurship in the Arts at Wichita State University.

As Headmistress of the Finishing School for Modern Women, Jill has worked with thousands of women, inspiring them to overcome obstacles and move toward their goals. She founded the Badass Women of Wichita Alliance in 2021 with weekly gatherings to build community, promote nonprofits, and develop “badassery.”

After writing a blog for the Finishing School for seven years, Jill was inspired to compile her favorites into her first book, “Never Finished: Practical advice for Modern Women to inspire your fierce, authentic self she published in October 2022.

Active in the Wichita community, Jill leads cultural and women's organizations and is a zealous volunteer. In her spare time, she likes to attend artistic events and relax at home with her miniature rescue poodle, Jack.
