Thanks to these vivacious women for agreeing to share their love of play during our Power of Play panel discussion on August 5, 2026, at Flying Pig Improv's new location, 2320 E. Douglas at Grove, in Wichita, Kansas. (Parking and entrance in back.)
About the event:
When was the last time you did something just for the joy of it?
We're experts at juggling responsibilities, checking boxes, and taking care of everyone else. Somewhere between careers, caregiving, responsibilities, and endless to-do lists, many women forget that play isn't a luxury—it's essential.
Join us for an inspiring conversation about reclaiming joy, embracing creativity, and giving yourself permission to play. Because being a badass isn't just about working hard—it's also about making time to play.
We are meeting at Flying Pig Improv's new location at 2320 E. Douglas Ave. and Grove, 6 to 8 PM.
Panelists:

Gail Waywood-Tucker

Jen James
Jen James is a physical therapist who teaches in the Wichita State Physical Therapy Department. She has dual certifications in neurologic and pediatric PT, and she especially enjoys working with parents of young children with complex neurological conditions.
Her work took her to rural Appalachia, where she worked with infants in community settings and learned about the importance of high expectations. Jen's favorite thing about PT is helping families make learning and playfulness a part of their daily routines and activities. She is also an unashamed "neuro nerd" who teaches neuroscience courses and loves learning more about the brain's incredible ability to change and adapt after serious injury.
In her free time, Jen is also an improv enthusiast. She took a class at Flying Pig and was hooked from the start. She now spends an inordinate amount of time researching the effects of all kinds of play on infants, adults, and everyone in between. She believes, more than anything, in the power of open-ended questions and the willingness to be imperfect.

Roz Hutchinson
For 25 years, Roz Hutchinson was on call 24/7 as the leader of Communications and Public Relations at Ascension Via Christi. In March 2024, she became a lady of leisure, spending time with her husband, spoiling their six grandchildren and three chihuahuas, taking part in daily group exercise classes at the YMCA, and traveling.
These days, her paid and unpaid passion projects also include working part-time as a community engagement specialist for WSU’s Suspenders4Hope mental wellness and suicide prevention program; serving on the boards of Ability Point and the Downtown YMCA; promoting Shocker Women’s Basketball; and volunteering for The Phoenix, Wichita’s sober gym.
