Building Community - Society of Women Engineers

The Society of Women Engineers is planning a live Engineering EXPO for kids K-8 grade, scheduled for April 9, 2022, in the EXPO Hall of Century II in Wichita. At this planning meeting, we’ll brainstorm on how to provide a hands-on experience with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) to expose thousands of kids to the excitement of these experiments. This event takes lots of planning and lots of volunteers. The public is welcome to come learn more about this event and volunteer opportunities and help brainstorm or listen in.

About the organization:

The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Wichita section was chartered in 1982 by a dynamic group of eight women and has since grown to over 50 members. SWE is a non-profit organization made up of both men and women who are dedicated to making known the need for women engineers and encouraging young women to consider an engineering education. The local section strives to create a balanced environment that blends members’ personal and professional lives. By sharing the mission and goals of the Society of Women Engineers, additional opportunities are created for the local section to help make a difference.
